Archaeological Excavation

In Portugal, ERA is the entity that has the most experience in carrying out archaeological excavations in urban or rural areas. Over the years, our teams have carried out services in the most diverse types of contexts, basing their work on the best archaeological practices in force and on the satisfaction of our customers. 

Currently, archaeological excavations occur predominantly in the context of construction projects and as a preventive measure against possible impacts on archaeological heritage. For this reason, they are considered a minimization measure framed in diagnostic or preventive actions. 

They can consist of previous surveys with a diagnostic function by collecting preliminary data or take on a broader scope by extending over a specific area to fully identify existing contexts.
