20/10/2020 - Conservation and restoration of the Roman Villa of Freiria

ERA's conservation and restoration team carried out the treatment of a decorated mosaic floor in the Roman Villa of Freiria, in Cascais. The previous cleaning was fundamental, revealing the richness of the decorations, and the treatment of the joints reinforced and consolidated the floor. In order to strengthen the weakened areas, lime and sand mortar were used, a technique similar to what was used in Roman times. 

The restoration of this pavement will contribute to its preservation. This is yet another historic site that has been restored and will be passed on to future generations.
